Since Terminal 3 welcomed its first flight in April 2025, Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City has had three passenger terminals. They are not under one roof and each serves different airlines, so knowing your terminal before you book your ride is the easiest way to avoid a last-minute dash.

The three terminals and their airlines

TerminalFlightsAirlines
T1DomesticVietjet Air
T3DomesticVietnam Airlines (including flights operated by Pacific Airlines and VASCO), Bamboo Airways, Vietravel Airlines, Sun PhuQuoc Airways
T2InternationalEvery international flight, including those of Vietnamese airlines

This reflects the terminal allocation announced in early 2026. Airlines can move terminals, so always check your e-ticket or the airline’s messages before you fly.

How to tell which terminal you need

  • International flights: always Terminal 2, whatever the airline.
  • Domestic flights: look at the first two characters of the flight number. VJ (Vietjet) uses T1; VN (Vietnam Airlines), QH (Bamboo Airways), VU (Vietravel Airlines) and 9G (Sun PhuQuoc Airways) use T3.
  • On your documents: e-tickets, confirmation emails and boarding passes usually show the terminal.

How far apart are the terminals?

T1 (domestic) and T2 (international) sit side by side, linked by a covered walkway, about a 5-minute walk. T3 stands on its own on the Tran Quoc Hoan side of the airport, roughly 1 km away by road, which is not a comfortable walk with luggage.

If you have to change terminals, for example landing at T3 on a domestic flight and connecting to an international flight at T2, read our guide to changing terminals at Tan Son Nhat and leave enough time.

Get the right terminal when you book your car

A drop-off at the wrong terminal means looping back out onto public roads, and traffic around the airport builds up quickly at peak times. When you book a Tan Son Nhat airport transfer with Newway SAS, you pick T1, T2 or T3 directly, and the airlines for each terminal are listed right under the buttons.

  • Departures: the car collects you at your address and drops you at the departures hall of the terminal you chose.
  • Arrivals: your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name sign and tracks your actual landing time, so a delayed flight still has a car waiting.

How early should you arrive?

On a normal day, aim to be at the airport about 2 hours before a domestic flight and 3 hours before an international one; allow more around public holidays and Tet. Check-in counters usually close 40–60 minutes before departure depending on the airline and route.
