This walks through one complete booking on newwaysas.vn, in the order the screens appear. It takes about five minutes to read, and it will save you the name-change fee — the most expensive mistake we see every day.
Before you start
Have these three things ready and the whole process runs without interruption:
- Travel documents for every passenger — national ID card or passport. You need the name exactly as written on the document, and the date of birth.
- A working phone number and email address. Your confirmation, booking reference and e-ticket all go there.
- Company details if you need a VAT invoice: company name, tax code and registered address.
Step 1 — Search for a flight
The search box sits at the top of the home page. Pick One way or Round trip on the top row, then fill in:
- Origin and destination. City name or airport code both work — "SGN" and "Ho Chi Minh" return the same result. The arrow between the two fields swaps them.
- Departure date, plus a return date for round trips.
- Travellers and cabin class. Adults are 12 and over, children from 2 to under 12, infants under 2. Age counts on the date of travel, not the date of booking — a child turning 2 before the trip must be booked as a child.
- Airline. Leave it empty to search every airline. Pick one or more if you are collecting miles or your company has a preferred carrier.
- Promo code. Optional. Each airline accepts one code; choosing a new code for the same airline replaces the previous one. If no airline has a code running, the box says so and you can still search normally.
- Non-stop. Tick this and the list shows only flights with no stops.
Step 2 — Pick a flight from the results
The results page gives you three tools, usable together:
- The date strip at the top shows the lowest fare for each day around your chosen date. If your dates are flexible, moving one or two days is often noticeably cheaper.
- Filters for airline, departure time, arrival time, stops and maximum price. On a phone the filter panel slides up from the bottom. The airline list only shows carriers that actually fly that route.
- Sorting by lowest or highest price, earliest or latest departure, earliest or latest arrival, and shortest flight time.
If filtering empties the list, your conditions are too tight — drop one and look again.
On a round trip you choose the outbound flight first, then the return list appears.
Step 3 — Enter passenger details
This is the most important step, and where almost every name-change fee starts.
Names must match the document the passenger will carry to the airport. Put the family name in the first field (for example: NGUYEN) and the rest in the second (for example: VAN A). Both fields capitalise the text and strip accents as you type, because this is the name printed on the ticket — type normally and the form handles the rest.
The remaining fields for each passenger:
- Date of birth and gender, as on the document.
- Nationality. Defaults to Vietnam.
- ID card or passport number. Not required on domestic flights, though filling it in speeds up check-in. It is required on international flights, together with the issuing country and expiry date. The issuing country can differ from nationality — a Vietnamese citizen holding foreign residency is a common case.
Checked baggage is chosen under each passenger. You have to enter the name first, because airlines attach a baggage plan to a specific passenger name. If the airline does not sell extra baggage through our system for that flight, you can still add it: call us or write it in the "Notes" box below, and Newway SAS will buy it for you at the airline's own rate, with nothing added on top.
Step 4 — Hold the seats
Pressing Hold asks the airline to reserve the exact flight and fare class you selected. Three things to know:
- Nothing is charged at this step.
- A hold expires. The booking reference and the payment deadline appear on the next screen — miss the deadline and the airline releases the seats.
- Check names and document numbers before you press. Changing a name after the airline has accepted the booking usually costs money, and some airlines do not allow it at all — you cancel and rebook.
Occasionally an airline reports the seats gone at the moment you confirm; fares and availability move in real time. If that happens the system says so clearly and returns you to the list to pick another flight.
Step 5 — Pay
Flights booked on the web are paid by bank transfer to our company account. The correct order is:
- Newway SAS staff verify the seats and confirm the final price with you.
- Only after that confirmation do you transfer. Fares can still move until the ticket is issued, so paying before confirmation just puts you in a refund queue.
- Once transferred, send a photo of the receipt over Zalo so the ticket can be issued as fast as possible.
The account details, transfer reference and amount all appear on the payment screen of that specific order. The ticket is issued once the money reaches the company account.
If you need a VAT invoice, switch on "Electronic invoice" at the contact step and fill in the company name, tax code (10 digits; branches add 3 more after a hyphen), invoice email and address. Enter them exactly as registered: once issued, an invoice cannot have its name, tax code or address corrected — it has to be cancelled and reissued.
Step 6 — Get your ticket and track the order
After payment you receive an order code: 12 characters starting with NW. Keep it.
- The e-ticket and order confirmation go to the email address you entered.
- Check the status any time on the order lookup page using that code. The same page covers every service — flights, Fast Track, airport transfers, lounges and SIM/eSIM.
- If the code does not work, or the email has not arrived after a few minutes, check your spam folder first, then call us.
Seven things people get wrong
- Typing the name from habit instead of from the document. Nicknames, initials, a missing middle name — all count as a mismatch, and the airport is a bad place to discover it.
- Booking the wrong passenger type. Age counts on the travel date. A child who turns 2 before departure needs a child fare, not an infant fare.
- An expiring passport. Many countries require at least six months of validity from the date of entry.
- Transferring before staff confirm the price. See Step 5.
- Letting the hold expire. The deadline is on screen right after you hold, and the airline releases the seats automatically.
- Forgetting to request the VAT invoice. Asking after the order is complete means manual work and delay on both sides.
- Buying baggage at the airport. The airport counter price is almost always higher than buying before you fly.
